R.I.P Michael Jackson

I can't believe how hurt I am over this.
I was sleep and "106th and Park" came on.
I kept hearing them say that Michael Jackson was in the hospital which kept waking me up but I thought they were tripping.
My phone kept blowing up but I didn't answer it and then Araina called me.
She's like,"You know Micheal Jackson died?"
I didn't believe her at all until I turned it on CNN.
Then I screamed, "No! Oh my Goddddddddd!" exactly like this boy:

Then came the water works.
I could not stop crying!
I can't believe how sad I am over his death.
"This is bad, real bad, Michael Jackson."

I have always loved Michael Jackson since I was a lil midget but I didnt expect this.
But then again what negro under the age of 45 didn't grow up to him and/or The Jackson 5?

He is one of those entertainers who inspired you and made you proud!
He made me proud to be from the Mid-West and he continued to co-sign on how talented and beautiful black people are.

No one can touch him.

He changed music.
He changed dance.
He changed pop culture.
He made history.

R.I.P Michael Jackson

Here are a few of my favorite Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson videos:

P.S.

1. Who do we have left? Prince and Stevie Wonder?

2. I am really sad I never got to see him in concert.

3. The lady with the doves? I know she is effed up right now.

4. I was already geeked to see the BET Awards and now I am just estatic for the MJ tributes.

5. How many people are gonna dress up as Michael Jackson for Halloween this year? lol

You know what the Mid-West is?

"Young and restless
Where restless Niggaz might snatch your necklace
And next these Niggaz might jack your Lexus
Somebody tell these Niggaz who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of Chi where death is
Top floor the view alone will leave you breathless Uhhhh!"
I guess Kanye said it best huh?
Because according to the F.B.I, 44% of the most dangerous streets in the U.S. are in the Mid-West.
Alot of people think the Mid-West is this "soft, Bible Belt", but I know different.
It is horrible out here and it might surprise alot of people.
But I can't believe my former street of "East St. Louis- State Street" isn't on the list because Lord knows some craziness goes on there.

Top 25 Most Dangerous Streets (according to the F.B.I on order of violence)
1) Cincinnati - Central Pwky./Liberty St.
2) Chicago - State St./Garfield Blvd.
3) Miami, 7th Ave./North River Dr.
4) Jacksonville - Beaver St./Broad St.
5) Baltimore - North Ave./Belair Rd.
6) Kansas City - Bales Ave./30th St.
7) Memphis - Warford St./Mt. Olive Rd.
8) Kansas City - Forest Ave./41st St.
9) Dallas - Route 352/Scyene Rd.
10) Richmond - Va., Church Hill
11) Memphis - Bellevue Blvd./Lamar Ave.

I guess Perez Hilton finally got what he was coming to him after all the ish he talks on a daily basis about folks.

"She didn't even swear"

Sorry I haven't been on my A game.
I been going crazy because I'm taking a full load of summer classes (tear), so I really haven't had the time to speak my peace on the blog.
But, there are no excuses so I'm going to step my game up.

Anyway, this is the cutest little clip ever.
T-Swizzle and T-pain, check these ninjas out.

"I knit sweaters YO" lol

And so I'll be true to you.

"Vexation of spirit is a waste of time
Negative thinking don't you waste your thoughts
Verbal conflict is a waste of word
Physical conflict is a waste of flesh
People will always be who they want
and that's what really makes to world go round
Unconditional love is scarce
"

"You see, you've always had faith in me
and so I'll have faith in you, you
you've always been there for me
and so I'll be there for you, you
you've always been good to me
even when I'm not good to myself
you've always been fair to me
even when I'm not fair to myself
you've always done right by me
so I'll do right by you, you"

I really love this song and the lyrics are divine.

"The one good thing bout music, when it hit, you feel no pain."
-his dad, the legend, Bob Marley

P.S. And just look at that face.

Happy Fathers Day.

To all the Dads out there who love their children and to the rest of the good men who play that role, even if they really don't have to, thank you.

Down down do yo dance.

A few years ago there was a show called "Dance on Sunset" that used to come on Teen Nick on Sunday nights.

The dude who choreographed the dancers and semi-hosted the show was a guy named Tony Testa and babeeey(in New Orleans accent) he was booku creepy!

I'm talking level 10 creepy.
He reminds me of a vampire with dancing ability.
It's not something you can explain, it's more of something you must experience to fully understand where I'm coming from.

Brad(my bro) and I would endure this show with all these crazy screaming children just to laugh at Tony's weirdness, creepiness, and general doe-doe headness.
To this day we still talk about Tony and try to find Tony look-a-likes roaming among us.

I finally found some videos that showcase his creepy level. Go to minute 5:23 please:

And his choreo speaks a thousands words, so funny!:

Hold up!

I actually found some promising choreo from Senor Testa.
I knew he had to have some dopeness running through those vampire veins of his:

Music Mondays. 6.15.09

My song is Elton John's "Benny and the Jets".
Partly because this is one my favorite songs.
Mainly because me and that cool dude Brandon(aka Pimp Daddy) were rocking out hard to this song the other night in the car like some corny niggies. gnr.
That's what dreams are made of (and corny movie scenes).haha

P.S. You may notice I wrote "gnr" instead of "lol".
Well if you haven't already received the mass text it reads:
"Attention all black people we NO longer say "lol" we say "gnr"(gotta nigga rolling), pass it to every black person. lol"
I'm just following procedure. gnr.

"Bad Habit" by Maxwell=I love it!
I am addicted to this song and I just jam to it all day long.
Plus, it reminds me of my other cut "Pretty Wings" with the dope jazzy feel.
It just proves that "BLACKsummersnight" is about to be the buisness.
And he just shot the video with Kerry Washington. I can't wait to see it.

If the video is taken down, listen to the song here.

Dear Governor Nixon,

June 1, 2009

Governor Jay Nixon
201 West Capitol Avenue
Jefferson City, Missouri 65101-1556

Dear Governor Nixon:

My name is Sister Helen Prejean. I am a Catholic religious sister, one of the Congregation of St. Joseph. For the last 27 years of my life, I have worked with and advocated on behalf of families of homicide victims and inmates sentenced to death. I have recounted some of these experiences in my books Dead Man Walking and Death of Innocents.

I have recently learned that Reggie Clemons is scheduled to be executed on June 17, and I write to ask that you exercise mercy and grant clemency in this case. I learned of this case many years ago and have always been troubled by the many disturbing issues it raises. As you are aware, he received a sentence of death even though the prosecution never proved that he was directly responsible for the death of either woman, after a trial that was marred by prosecutorial misconduct, hampered by grievously ineffective defense counsel and tainted by police brutality.

It is very troubling that the State of Missouri would act to execute a man who it has never contended caused the tragic deaths of those young women. It is equally troubling that it would execute an accomplice while sentencing another person to life imprisonment for the same events. And it is unconscionable that it would do so while denying Reggie Clemons the opportunity to present his case to a court without the flaws and omissions brought about by incompetent lawyers and an overzealous prosecutor whose conduct was so outrageous that he was sanctioned by the court.

On a personal level, I know of the devastating impact that this case has had on the Clemons family since I have been fortunate to have met Reggie’s parents, Pastor Thomas and his wife Vera during my travels. They are upstanding citizens who have devoted the last eighteen years of their lives trying to save their son’s life. I pray that you will grant them that wish.

I urge you to intervene in Reggie’s case. It cries out for your intervention. When the system of justice allows so many issues to go without redress, it is your responsibility to uphold the integrity of that system by exercising the extraordinary power of clemency, which only you can do. Mistakes that are made in capital cases can never be made right after the sentence is carried out. I ask that you correct the potentially fatal flaws in this case by commuting the sentence of Reggie Clemons.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Sr. Helen Prejean, c.s.j.

Perkis System.

In my Blackberry vs. iPhone post, I listed some of the greatest rivalries of all time and one of them happens to be "Tony Perkis vs. fat kids".

If you don't know what I'm referring to, I will judge you...harshly.
As far as I'm concerned, you aren't even a real American if you haven't seen "Heavyweights".

LOL

Yes, those may be some of the greatest rivalries of all time but there is only one that I'm concerned with right now and that is...

Blackberry vs. iPhone

I don't know which one to get!
The contract on my phone expired a few months ago but I am waiting to get a new phone until I decide between the two.

I thought the Blackberry Storm was a no brainer.

Everyone loves their Blackberry and says it's way better than iPhone because,"The iPhone can't do things that a regular phone can."(someone please explain this to me!)
Also, iPhones don't have insurance and I heard they crash? hmmm
So yeah, I was going with the Blackberry Storm until...

iPhone came out with a left hook to the tally whacker. lol
Since 2008, there has been the rumor that the iPhone might be available on Verizon and me-a-likey! lol
And of course, Apple just unleashed the newer, better, faster, stronger (random:Daft Punk is the ish) iPhone the other day and this ad I just received in my inbox is rather tempting:

So, customers of The Clearance Aisle, show me the way!
Should I eff with the iPhone or the Blackberry Storm?

Hella good.

Hella good.

I just don't like this Megan girl.
She's gonna have to do something really cool and/or kick ass in Transformers 2 (instead of sucking like she did in the first one) to win me over.

P.S. 14 days until Transformers 2:Revenge of the Fallen!
Holy bologna stuffed in rigatoni!

Hippie vs. Hipster

These are the things I think about while waiting for my ACCT teacher's office hours.

Are modern day hipsters the equivalent to hippies of the 60s?
(This question has been popping up in my random brain for weeks now.)

Hippies don't care about societal norms and actually have a cause.
They are just really chill, content, and honestly don't give a fug.

While most hipsters believe they don't care about societal norms(but really do), rarely stand for a cause, and they give too much of a fug(e.g. constantly getting in line with a clothing or musical trend yet they think they are "cutting edge" and then end up playing them out).

Rant warning:
Sometimes hipsters can get annoying.
I hate when people think "OMG! I am sooo ahead of this trend!" and then they play it out!
I'm just think, "Do you know how old that ish is?"
For instance, the "dork" glasses that I am wearing in the photo to the right:
I bought a pair of those in 2004 and some people are just now catching on!
Now they are so played out but I refuse to stop wearing them because they all of a sudden got "cool" in 2007-2008 and everyone jumped on the "dork" glasses bandwagon.
Same thing goes for items like leather bomber jackets, or jean jackets, or skinny leg jeans, etc...
it took YEARS for people to catch on but they swear they are cutting edge fashionistas. lol
(and if they eff up poodle skirts, I'll be livid! lol)
Thanks Kanye West! lol

But, I checked out some stuff on the interweb and it turns out both have full-fledged haters.

Well, I'm content with being labeled an "individual"(even though I think hippies are groovy. lol)

P.S. I love how in my picture I am wearing "hipster" glasses while I throw up the stereotypical hippie peace sign. As Alanis Morissette would say, "Isn't it ironic? Don't cha think?" lol

lol

Audi, go pick up your face please!

Big ups to Juggernaut Advertising who came up with BMW's response!

I want to be a copywriter and this is all inspiration.

Music Mondays. 6.8.09

I don't even know where to begin with this entry.

The vagina owners in family have been completely ADDICTED to this song for the past week or so.
Only one man could make me, LMo, Meaghan (our little sister), and my mom sit down and watch a music video back to back on a Friday night as of it were a production we paid to go see. lol

and that man is.....DUN DUN DUN!

mu'fuggin Maxwell
SWOON!

We grew up on Maxwell and my parents love him to death!
I always effed with his music but I now completely understand the power of this man's sexiness that has had my mother in a tizzy for the last 15 years or so.
But he has switched his hobo, Kenny Kravitz swag with the fro for a more grown and sexy Obama swag and I love them both!

Therefore, both me and Leslie's Music Monday pick will be "Pretty Wings" by Maxwell.

This song and video is perfect and beautiful in every way possible.

I love the video because it is so simple and warm.
The women in the video look like sleeping angels I swear.
It has similar sensual and simple elements like Common's video for "Go"...but better.
I was just tripping out at how I could literally take a frame from any given part of the video and hang it on my wall.
See:

And the lyrics to the song are so honest, simple, and beautiful:

"Your face will be the reason I smile
But I will not see what I cannot have forever
I'll always love you
I hope you feel the same.

Oh, you played me dirty, your game was so bad
You toyed with my affection
Had to fill out the prescription for the remedy
I had to set you free.

Away from me
To see clearly
The way that love can be when you are not with me
I had to lead
I had to live
I had to leave
I had to live

If I can't have you
Let love set you free
To fly your pretty wings around."

I mean dang Maxwell!
That's how ya feel brotha?
lol

I told Leslie these are some of the most inspirational yet disappointing lyrics I have ever heard:
Inspirational because I would love to be this honest and passionate with my writing.
Disappointing because I realize how hard it might be to reach this level of humility. lol

It reminds me of those old soul and/or blues songs where the lyrics aren't complicated yet those are somehow the ones that hit you and stay with you the most.

And then who can forget about his sick voice and the horns (especially at the very end)?
Swoon again!

But I can't wait until 7.7.09!
Maxwell will release his first album in 7 years titled...

And luckily we won't have to wait another 7 years after this release to get another Maxwell record because it is a trilogy

2009-BLACKsummers'night
2010-blackSUMMERS'night
2011-blacksummersNIGHT

Believe you me, ya girl will be collecting all three of those records like some Pokemon cards...gotta catch em all!
lol

And I was already geeked for the BET Awards but now that I know Maxwell is performing I think I need a new word for my level of excitement..."kabloomed" maybe? lol
Yep, I am hella kabloomed to see Maxwell perform on the BET Awards! hehe

P.S. Guess who will be in Savannah, GA the day before my birthday? Yep, Maxwell. And guess who will be in ATL for her internship? Me. I would LOVE to make this happen! My parents caught him in concert last year(where the first song he performed was "Pretty Wings") and my mom said he sounds exactly the same, if not better, live.

P.S.S. Check out what ya boy has been doing during his 7 year hiatus...models. psh. lol

P.S.S.S. "I love the way his forehead moves in the beginning."-my mom (before we start the video onDemand) LMAO!

I wish I could buy me a spaceship and fly...

P.S. Speaking of that fly boy (ahem: genius music man) from Illiinois...
Check out what I found via OVO...
Kanye's b-day cake.
(this cannot be appetizing but I woulda ate in anyway, lol)

Where is the love?

Ya know, sometimes, black people just let me down.
This is the silly facebook conversation that was had between me, Jai, and a bunch of other people.

When I saw this status, it just pissed me off.
Most of the time on facebook, I just mind my business and ignore certain status' or comments, BUT this status rubbed me entirely in the wrong way!

I know gay marriage and gay rights is a really hot and sensitive area of discussion, but forreal yall??

Just read!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LL I strongly oppose same sex marriage.....its wrong...and its against my personal beliefs....Im not trying to judge anybody becuz thats not me...but if God wanted us to marry /be with the same sex....he wouldve made us all alike...-think about it.

MM at 5:07pm June 3
i thought it was adam and steve lhh^^^

NS at 5:09pm June 3
I say the same...But Life is so twisted and Wisdom is corrupted

CU at 5:13pm June 3
We all couldnt have been alike. Who would iron my clothes and clean my house then?

NN at 5:15pm June 3
I totally..agree with that! I mean I dont judge other people. By all means do what u do. Though its something about two men being together. That just get under my skin. It just aint right. And marriage is meant to be a holy thing.

HR at 5:19pm June 3
Amen. In the beginning He created Adam and to help Adam He created Eve. This was the first marriage. now in the last days things will get worse before they get better. We are living in the new Sodom and Gommorah. The name sodom comes from sodimite which well I don't need to go into detail the name explains itself. Its just the spirit that is in the air. Its not the person but the spirit in them. Its not right according to my Heavenly Father. When the enemy comes in like a flood the spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.

SW at 5:21pm June 3
God also intended for people to be married before having sex...but that rule went out the window..no sin is greater than the other..I am not gay, but i feel sorry for people who get treated differently due to their lifestyle

CU at 5:24pm June 3
No Shayla, that rule isnt out the window. Its just overlooked, just as much as going 37 in a speed zone of 35 isnt considered breaking the law...Marriage is something that God says is between a man a woman. However, Lord also told man not to kill. Yet, we support our troops and support the death penalty, support abortion, and we support measures of self defense which means if someone pulls a gun on me, I have the right to shoot them correct? But what happend to Tho shall not kill? Eh... Let God be the Judge

SW at 5:33pm June 3
i understand your point...I just hate when people throw religion into the mix when they never mention God any other time. people dont think about religion when they are cursing, having pre-maritial sex, smoking, drinking, getting tatted up, not going to church, and doing all of these other things. but when an issue that makes people uncomfortable comes up...the first thing out of their mouth is "God made adam and eve....."....

CU at 5:36pm June 3
Tru Tru...

SJ at 6:09pm June 3
Ok shayla i c ur point but Chib point is more accurate to me...think realistic of course no one brings up religion wit every situation becuz we all sin but gay marriages thts just completing wrong and nasty Jesus destroyed a whole town of gays so tht has to outweigh other sins...He expects us to sin hell eve wasnt a super saint herself...but being gay and then to go stand before Him in marriage...thts just total disrespect!we sin but we dont go to church and ask God to accept it we ask Him to forgive us for our sins...if u go get into a gay marrige basically u sayin "God u gone have to deal wit this"....idk tht shit just seem too wrong to me!

LL at 6:10pm June 3
all points well taken

NN at 6:11pm June 3
*That is very true. Many get like that when this topic comes up.

LMo at 6:12pm June 3
i agree with shayla here. I definitely believe that it is unfair to cluster this entire group of people and tell them that their life is wrong. It is unfair, because who are we to judge anyway. Their life isn't ours to live, so I wish people would stop putting them down, and worry about what they(themselves) got goin on. The divorce rate for marriages is so ridiculous nowdays anyway, I swear the straight people aint even doin it right! lol My point is, it isnt our place to say gay marriage is wrong. I don't kno why people feel so affected by this group of people trying to be able to commit to eachother. When did love become a crime?

LL at 6:44pm June 3
Marriage is a holy ceremony concecrated by God..its celebrates the commitment of to people to their faith, religon and God. God speaks against this in the bible in many places....all tho ppl say only God can judge....but ppl have to stop believing that there isnt a different between whats wrong and right....the bible lays out wrong and right CLEARLY....ppl try to change it and use it to their advantage and thats wrong.....The reason our world is in such a bad condition is becuz ppl continue to promote fairness in a unperfect world.....im not puttin down gay ppl ....i jess think its wrong that ppl can get married and disrespect God like that ....according to the bible...he wuldnt approve...

Jai at 8:52pm June 3
If you don't agree with gay marriage, don’t have one.Obviously, marriage cant be that holy because the divorce rate in America is the highest on this planet! (sidenote: the divorce rate in states that allow gay marriage is 20% lower than the rest of the country, lol, wow). And if people really held marriage that high and followed the standard that God put on it, there would no pre-marital sex. (And hell, Britney Spears is over here having a 2 day marriage yet two ppl that unconditionally love each other can’t celebrate that? Por favor.)Not all marriages are religious. Not everyone is Christian and that is why we have SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE and not SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND “uh, well, your sexuality makes me uncomfortable so let me hate on that (even though it doesn’t personally effect me)”.

Jai at 8:54pm June 3
God frowns upon a lot of things that we do everyday like judging, cursing, killing, tattoos etc …) No one is perfect and I think people need to remember that before we start weighing our sins against the next person b/c one sin is not greater than another. If people were this vocal and passionate about the war, where mugs are being KILLED our world would be a lot different but no, mugs are over here tripping over something that doesn’t personally affect them and they are instead HATING ON LOVE.

And the “Adam and Steve” argument has a cute rhyme and everything but you’re gonna have to come with more than that to defend bigotry. lol I just went to a Nazi rally where they said that interracial marriage is wrong because “if God wanted us to mix, then we would all be the same color” well that sounds like the same stuff yall saying.

Jai at 8:55pm June 3
And black people, in my eyes, being homophobic is JUST as bad as being racist/xenophobic. There is NO difference between the two. One happens to deal with race and ethnicity while the other deals with sexuality (which are sadly, prob. the two biggest social defining roles we have and people happen to find the need to judge/try to define it for others the most)

Seriously, half the people on here, no disrespect, are homophobic. And that is very unfortunate that a group of young black people in 2009 are THIS intolerant and judgmental. The fight for marriage equality is the same fight we fought for people of color. Just like there were/are hate crimes aimed at black people, there are hate crimes aimed at homosexuals/transgender. Just like there were free states, there are “ free states” that support marriage equality and those that don’t.

Jai at 8:55pm June 3
The fact that the majority would even think of enforcing their beliefs on the minority in America and in 2000-and- effing -9 is literally insane to me! The minority has always had to fight for their rights in this country because it isn’t the “standard” or it “makes the majority uncomfortable” so I guess it really shouldn’t be that big of surprise huh? (which is kinda comforting b/c I know their fight will be won someday)

SW at 9:07pm June 3
I TOTALLY agree with Jai..

Lmo at 9:13pm June 3
shayla you the new homie!! lol

SJ at 9:19pm June 3

Well im not hatin and everyone would have their opinion everyone sins and no one is perfect and no one will be but i still disagree wit two ppl of the same sex gettin married...id rather c a human married a donkey but im not judgemental becuz im against it thts just my opinion...when did opinions become judgin i mean if two gay ppl were to get married im not go hate them or judge them im just not gone agree with their decision...shayla take yo azz to work!

LL at 9:30pm June 3
well i see ur point jai and im not even homophobic....i dont have a problem with other ppls lifes...its jess that i dont want that to become the ideal couple or norm...if we okaY gaY marriage ...then whats next ....i dont wat to make ga ppl exlusive but more inlclusive ...

Jai at 9:42pm June 3

So you're pro-beastiality? lol I mean do what you do but ignorant comments like that is why lil kids feel austrisized and feel the need to commit suicide.

Stop while you're...behind?

Uh oh yall, here is part 2 to the madness.

1. I know he did NOT just pump his pecs to the beat and then have the nerve to belly roll.
2. This is like P.E. calisthenics gone awkward and hyper-sexual.
3. Go to around minute 2:40. Is he a contender for the 2012 U.S. gymnastics team? lol

Why does he continue do this these things?
You know when you feel embarrassed just watching someone else do something embarrassing? Well that is how I feel every time I watch his videos; extremely awkward.

And I love how he tried to explain himself from the last video.
Baby, actions speak louder than words and your actions are acting rather foolish and uh, you know the rest...
Three snaps.

P.S. This cracked me up:

P.S.S This has to be THE best song advertisement ever cause you have no choice but to watch the video and the song is mad catchy.
