The WTT tour that everybody has been anticipating.
It kicks off in ATL, then heads right up the East Coast.

Still haven't bought my tickets.
I'm a little distraught over the price of those bastardly tickets, but we'll see.
I don't wanna miss out on something epic, but I also don't wanna feel robbed.
Oh Yeezy....why you gotta do it to me?

VOYR will be broadcasting the kickoff show in Atlanta via a live stream tonight.
I may tune in for 5 minutes and give myself a sneak peak.

Bey premiered her video on 106 the other day and honestly, I like.
It's nothing too crazy, but it's funky and chill(and that's my type of party.)

The video feat cameos from the homie Theophilus London, Solange(looking adorable), Coco & Breezy(the funky eyewear designers), and Kelly Rowland.

ALSO: Stop hating on my boy J. Cole.
He recently did an interview talking about how he submitted several different verses, and that's just the one Beyonce wanted for the song.

Whether it's him on the track or Andre 3000, its talent.
So respect it.

Amy Winehouse Death Revealed.

It has been concluded that Amy Winehouse's death was due to alcohol poisoning.
The coroner ruled "death by misadventure."
They say her blood alcohol level was 5 times that of the legal limit and empty vodka bottles were found all over her room.

She had been abstinent for a period of time, but had recently began drinking again in the days preceding her death.
Po Amy.

I'm sure she never imagined that after all of those years of drug and alcohol abuse, that it would be the alcohol that gets her.
At least she was able to share her voice with the world...
Most people don't accomplish that in a lifetime.

Loved the fact that it featured Andre 3000, but equally love the fact that it now features J. Cole.
I guess those are the perks to being signed to Roc Nation.

While I was listening to some BIG K.R.I.T. the other day, I stumbled across a fellow by the name of RITTZ.
He was on a track with K.R.I.T. and Yelawolf and when I heard his flow, I definitely liked it.

He's affiliated with Yelawolf's crew and pretty much looks like a red headed bear.
As a white boy from Georgia, he has a really good presence on his mixtape "White Jesus".

Once I downloaded it, it was all I was bumping for the day.

MLK Memorial.

Me and Amanze went to the MLK Memorial a couple weeks ago.
We literally went the week before the official opening(womp), but it was still a great experience.

I expected the actual monument to be bigger, but the area of the space was larger than I expected.
No point in complaining though.
It's still a nice monument and tribute to such an important American figure.

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and
beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a
whale?"

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the
following way:

"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends
(dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their
children with great tenderness.
They entertain like crazy with dolphins and
eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like

Recently I've been trying to find my passions in life and do what makes me happy.
One thing about me is that I've always been able to express myself through my fashion choices.

Whether outragous or casual, I like to dress.
I think it's fun as hell to recycle things that I've had for years and make them look completely different and in style.

Over the weekend I made my first dress, and skirt, from scratch.
I've tweeked outfits before, but this is the first time I've completely designed something myself.

It's not the most perfect thing I could have made, but it's a start and I'm just proud that I tried.
And it won't be the last thing I make.
I'll keep yal posted.

Yeezy debuts "DW."

Kanye recently debuted his women's fashion line "DW" named after his late mother Donde West.
I'm sorry(no, I'm really not) but I love almost everything Kanye is a part of.
And as a whole I thought the show was good.
There are definitely several things that I would rock.

Supposedly the show has been getting mixed reviews, but honestly people are always going to be critical of Kanye, because of who he is.
If there's an opportunity where he can be judged or criticized, he will be.

I'm just happy that he's expressing himself positively and doing something he enjoys and is passionate about.
Can't ever be mad at that.

The Hunger Games

Ever since I got my Kindle last year, I've been reading a lot more.
I truly believe that reading is magical.
My all time favorite books have got to be the Harry Potter series.
I LOVED the books, loved the movies and just think J.K. Rowling is a genius.

But after I read all those books, everything else was unfulfilling....
until The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
Books are off the chain.
She really came out of left field with the entire concept of the book.
And the way the books unfold is just something you couldnt even imagine(or predict.)

All I'm saying is, if you like reading fiction, READ THE HUNGER GAMES SERIES.
I would definitely say it's one of my favorite books.

And they're currently filming the first movie(which will be in theatres March 23rd), so if you're the type of person that would rather read the book before the movie comes out, then get on it.
Well worth the read.

Sao Paulo, Brazil is being a little bit ridiculous.
A democratic(WHY?) politician by the name of Carlos Apolonario is trying to establish a Heterosexual Day in Brazil.
Dude, really?

I feel like heterosexual day is the equivalent of white people asking why they don't get a history month. Because we said so!
There's no reason the generic form of the population needs a day to celebrate, because what its going to do is create problems.

And yes, people are getting pissed.

He's not creating a heterosexual day out of love for his sexuality, he's doing it out of defiance and unacceptance of others, and that ain't right.
Reportedly a homosexual is killed every 36 hours in Brazil. Shame.

I hope the Mayor doesn't approve it because it would just open the door for all sorts of foolishness.

Aside from 'Ye and Jay-Z collaborating on their upcoming album "Watch the Throne", I'm hella excited about them featuring Frank Ocean on 2 of the tracks.

Frank Ocean is such a talented youngster, and I'm excited that they decided to work together. Kudos.

Ocean has written songs for Justin Beiber, Pharrell, Lil Wayne, John Legend, Brandy, Beyonce, and Nas. So he's had plenty of experience with the big wigs.
I thoroughly enjoyed "Nostalgia, Ultra."

"Watch the Throne" is scheduled to hit stores August 2nd.
And trust I will be taking a listen as soon as I can.

It took me ages to find this song!
It played during the credits of "City of Men", but wasn't on the "official soundtrack".
I knew that was Ceu singing, but the song doesn't even have an title. I would spend hours trying to decipher Portuguese music conversations on Brasilian message boards (and I don't speak Portuguese). Then one day, maybe a year or so later, this Youtube clip just practically found me.
I guess life just works that way. Ha.

A smooth twist Mos Def's classic record.

Last week I went to the Bahamas and had a grand 'ol time (pictures later).
Plenty of sun, plenty of food, and plenty of spontaneous behavior.
That brings me to my next point: I got a tattoo!

My first tattoo was in the Bahamas on some random ish.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I got it on the inside of my arm.
A nice cute but discrete location.
My mom still flipped her lid, but she'll get over it lol.

My tattoo is this Bob Marley quote that I really love.
"Love the life you live. Live the life you love."

To me it means to basically live a life that's going to make you happy, make good things happen for yourself, and don't have regrets.
Life is too short to just waste it away.
Make it count.

4/20: Why is marijuana illegal?

I often find myself asking that very question: Why is marijuana illegal?
It never quite made sense to me.
Cigarettes, which cause over 400,000 deaths per year, receive U.S. subsides, yet this natural (practically harmless) plant is the devil's seed?
Naw, it doesn't seem to add up. There has to be a bigger reason to why it's legal, and there is.

Prepare to be enlightened by ,"The Union", an educational and compelling documentary that explores marijuana from every angle.
It tackles nearly every myth with excellent support (provided from UCLA and government studies, Harvard Medical Professors, economist, growers, smokers etc.)

Now, in no way do I believe marijuana should be forced on anyone.
It's a personal choice, and its not for everyone.
However from years of researching this subject, I do believe it should be legal.

Many people pass judgement on marijuana advocates and/or users, and much of that judgement is bred out of ignorance.
If you're going to hold a position on its legalization, the least you could do is properly educate yourself.
I'm talking actual personal exploration on this subject, NOT blindly believing what others (like the government) feed you, and want you to believe.
As if the government has never lied to us with the intent to control? Sure.

So, on this 4/20, take some time out and educate yourself on the facts of marijuana.
If you choose to seek the truth, you shall find it.

LMo's on vacation, probably laid out on some beach right now, so I'll be holding down Music Monday myself this week.

1) Def Sound-"(A) Gain
The first time I heard this song, I fell in love. It was on constant repeat.
Then the video dropped, and got damn...
Take a listen (and a look) for yourself and see if you don't feel the same way.

2) The Civil Wars-"Barton Hollow"
I'm a fan of bluegrass/authentic country. (I've been looking into bluegrass festivals, and everything).
And you may have seen me go on entire spiels on Twitter about how much of today's country music whomps.
Believe it or not, there are many correlations between hip-hop and country music.
For one, mainstream country is also infused with too much pop, and its lost alot of it's soul, but this "Barton Hollow"? I eff with.
My mom actually introduced me to this song.
Even if you're not a fan of country, give it a listen. You may actually dig it.

3) The Beets-"I Need More Allowance"
Doug was (and still is) one of my all-time favorite television shows.
I'm sure many of The Clearance Aisle shoppers grew up with this jewel of a show just like I did, so this song will take you back.

4) Little Dragon-"Fortune" (AFTA-1 Remix)
I always enjoy a good remix, and AFTA-1 usually never fails me.
He also just so happens to mix my favorite artists (ex: Esthero, Little Dragon), and this "Fortune" mix is just tasty.
Sidenote: AFTA-1 is a beautiful creature.

Did anyone see Empire Of The Sun live at Coachella? They killed it!
I've been a fan of there's for some time, and my brother loves them just as much as I do.

It sounds just like him trying to sing bass.

As you saw in this post, I recently went to a Mount Kimbie show.

As a tween/teenager, my mom and I would get into it all the time.
My dad would always shake his head, laugh and say,"You and your mom are JUST alike. That's why you're always butting heads."
(I'm a Leo, she's an Aries, and we both have very strong personalities. So, you can imagine.)
I now realize that my dad was right; I am just like my mom, and I'm becoming more like her everyday.
The older I get, the better our relationship gets.

She knows everything about me, and she's honestly one of my best friends.
She's smart, strong and hilariously dramatic.
My mom is the shit.

A few weeks ago, I was blessed enough to win tickets to the Mount Kimbie show from one my favorite stations, 88.1 KDHX.
My best friend Brittani was in town from Philly, so she and my other gal, Kyra, linked up for the show at The Luminary Center of the Arts.

Okay, so first we saw SoundClash (Black Spade, DJ Needles & 18andCounting) killing ish as usual.
I love seeing these three together, side-by-side.
Their personal DJing styles are really highlighted, and their individual elements build to create this dope, collective sound; Its a real treat to see.

And as if SoundClash wasn't enough, Mount Kimbie blew my fucking socks off.

This duo from the UK met in college, and have been creating electronic/post-dubstep music together ever since.
They're also good friends with James Blake, and he was once a touring member of their band.
I hadn't really listened to their music before, but they made a fan out of me.
I'm completely smitten with them (like a level 10 on the smitten scale).
Being a huge fan of electronic music, I've always wanted to see it created live, so this show was just amazing.

After the show was over, I met Kai (one half of Mount Kimbie).
We chatted, and he was cool as ever.
He forgot what country he was in and tried to give me Canadian money.

Moral of the story: If you ever get the chance to see Mount Kimbie live, DO IT.

Hunger Pains.

For the past 3 days, I haven't eaten any food.
I've resisted temptation against free, giant cupcakes and delectable catfish nuggets.
Both being a level 9 on the difficult to resist scale, but it's all worth it.

Myself and 36,000+ Americans are fasting to draw attention and protest the proposed Republican budget cuts. Budget cuts that would disproportionately impact the world's hungry and poor, both here and abroad.

If these budget cuts prevail, 100,000 pregnant and nursing mothers (and their children) will not receive food assistance, and global hunger programs will be cut, eliminating food for millions of kids in refugee camps.
And that's just the TIP of the iceberg; there is so much more on the line.

This greed is inexcusable, and if you think so too, take a stand.
Whether it's for a week, a few days or even one meal, fast and spread the word.
Blog, tweet and/or discuss your experience, and let everyone know why it's so important.
Let's stand in solidarity with those who need it the most.

Last Friday was amazing!
Me & my boyfriend were eating at this Mexican joint when I started talking about this chick at work that thought J. Cole was gonna be in town.
Being the huge J. Cole fan that I am, I knew she was mistaken...
Because surely I would have known he was coming.

But hell to the no, she was right.
And we were literally down the street with nothing else to do.
I aint never been somewhere so quick in my life lol.
I almost spontaneously combusted.

He was performing at the downtown pavilion in CVille for the FREE.
Yea, I said it. Free.99
The whole experience was dope.
While waiting we made tie dye shirts and ate free homemade doughnuts. #joy

Before J.Cole came out, this white boy walked on stage and ripped it on the turntables.
He played a mix of new & old school hip hop, electronic, house, and rock.
The entire crowd was literally jumping up and down.
We all danced our heads off.
He set it up real nice for J.Cole to come out.

And when J. Cole came out, oh buddy, it was magnificent.
He performed songs from the Come Up, Warm Up, and Friday Night Lights.
I was a little worried that he wouldn't go in, since it was a free show, but he did his thing.

Even though it was just him and his DJ on stage, there was so much energy.
I give him much respect, because there are rappers out there that have to have their entire crew on stage to feel like they're doing something.
J. Cole just gets it.

Spring is officially springing in St.Louis!
The trees are beginning to grow their leaves, the flowers are in bloom and this breeze is just sinful.
And as if the lovely weather wasn't reason enough to celebrate, I recently turned in that lovely senior portfolio (*booty dances with my hands on my knees*).
So, you know a celebration was in order.

When my friend Sarah and I found out "Bill Cunningham New York" was going to be showing at the Tivoli Theater in The Loop, we knew we had to see it!
So last week after I turned in my portfolio, we grabbed a few friends and subsequently had our worlds rocked by this film.

As both a photographer and a fan of indie cinema/documentaries, I knew I'd enjoy it, but I didn't expect to fall head over heels for Mr. Cunningham.
I cant stress enough how inspirational this film is; I walked out of theater renewed.
Bill is such a beautiful person. A shining example of what a principled and passionate life can be.
That man deserves nothing but the best. He fascinated me.

And even if fashion or photography doesn't tickle your fancy, I still suggest you see this film.
Bill will teach you life lessons. For example: "If you don't take the money, they can't tell you what to do, kid. Never touch the money."
It's just an all-around great character expose.

This week, Leslie and I will dedicate our Music Monday to one artist:
The artist I choose is fly ass Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott.
I think its safe to say that everyone is starting to miss the 90s in some shape or form, and the music, hip-hop in particular, is definitely something I miss.
And one of my favorite artist to emerge out of 90s was definitely Missy.
She was the bomb!

Missy was a completely original artist who knew how to have fun!
I loved her confidence, especially since she wasn't a size 2.
And as a female MC, she never reduced herself to sexual objectification, yet had no problem infusing sexual topics into her music. Yes!
Missy was always evolving and pushing the envelope.
I remember being a kid waiting for her videos to come on, she was so cool and unique.

I was recently having a convo about the current state of hip-hop and how its lost its artistry. Realizing that so many people today came up trying to model their careers after people like Diddy (more business entertainment than true art), rather than looking up to artist like Missy (an entertainer who never had to jeopardize her artistic integrity for popularity).

And as someone recently reminded me, let us not forget, Missy discovered Timbaland not the other way around. ;)

Happy Birthday, and R.I.P, to the legend that is Marvin Gaye.

Marvin had it all.

Not only was he the coolest motherfucker in the room at any given time, but the man had soul, substance and most of all, untouchable, unique talent.

The words and music he created were beautiful.
All these other goobers on the radio claiming to be R&B "artists" should be boycotted.
The state of black music (and music in general) is shameful (and it's so apparent when you listen to music of the past in comparison).
We've lost our soul along the way.

But anyway, besides being an incredible artist, Marvin also had style, sex appeal and this beautiful radiance.
My mom was addicted to Marvin Gaye as a kid, and looking back, I don't blame her one little bit.
I've been watching his videos for the past hour, and in that short time, I have decided that I too am in love with Marvin Gaye, and that he would have had no problem getting my V-Card (with unlimited swipes).

I was watching "Dave Chappelle's Block Party" yesterday.
Omg, I would have loved to had been there.
Yeezy, Common, Dead Prez, Mos Def, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, The Roots & one special guest:
J. Cole!

As I was watching the movie, I kept seeing this familiar light skinned boy.
6 years ago this man was right in the front of the audience probably losing his brain cells.
Can you imagine seeing all of those artists from a fan's point of view?
Now imagine seeing them from an artist's perspective?
On a whole nother level!

Do you remember the part where Dave invited an MC to come to the stage and freestyle?
Well J.Cole was trying his HARDEST to get on that stage.
If he was picked, he probably would be a part of G.O.O.D. Music right now. lol
I guess everything happens for a reason.
Maybe that was a point of major inspiration for him that led to some of the great music he makes now.

Either way, I was amused.
I felt like I was playing Where's Waldo.

Ever since Leslie moved to VA, I've been exploring St.Louis' emerging art/progressive culture.
I really enjoy going out to different areas, by myself, and meeting new people with similar interests.
It's so great to see St.Louis grow in this direction.
There are a handful of great venues, but one of my favorites, which you may have seen me previously mention on the blog (here), is Upstairs Lounge.

And every Wednesday, Lane 4 throws one of my favorite events at Upstairs called Community Service.

Not only is Community Service free entry (fucking insane), but the music (an eclectic mix of electro, hip-hip, dubstep etc.), brought to you from my homie Stan aka 18andCounting, is incredible, the interactive videos are interesting and the vibe is just great.
I just love dancing there. Eyes closed, under the strobe lights, just rockin'...

A few weeks back, getting ready for the night. I was battling an insane allergy attack, and I'm pretty sure I roofied myself on accident that night. lol

The Theophilus London show at UStreet Music Hall in DC was freaking AWESOME!
If you're on the fence about his music, just do yourself a favor and go to a show. I'm telling you, his energy is so exciting and refreshing.
Me, Amanze, & Sennay went last month and oh boy...that young man was rocking! His way of moving is just so adorable.
On top of that, he kept telling us how "Fuc%ing rad" we were. Boosted my self esteem a couple notches lol.
And on top of that, it was his effing birthday and his first show in DC. Ya girl was hype! When 12AM hit, we all sung him happy birthday and rocked out to "H.A.M." by Ye & Jay-Z.
I should have taken a video, but I was caught in the moment.
At least I got pics. :)

My homie Jesse dropped his mixtape "E.S.P.N. March Madness Edition" and I can't help but rep.
I'm not even gonna lie...it's pretty nice.

Some of my favorites are "Livin Better", "Mz. Independent", "C.R.E.A.M.", and "The Proposal."
When I heard that man sample my girl Ellie Goulding on "The Proposal", I was thoroughly impressed.
FYI: Ellie is a white girl from like England or some place like that.
When a hip hop artist can appreciate other types of music, I dig.

Lets not even talk about the awesome vibes on "Mz. Independent."

I love that second verse.

1) Major Lazer and La Roux-"Colourless Artibella"

One of my favorite tracks from the beyond solid (and dame near impossible to download!) mixtape "Lazerproof". Just reminds me of last summer. *sings* "I wanna get away to feel the sun on my skin. To feel it really sinking in."

2) The Flamingos-"I Only Have Eyes For You"

I was driving home from my internship the other day, listening to Blursday on 88.1 KDHX (one of the best radio stations in the world if you didn't know), and they randomly play this.

I'm telling you, I was so happy and surprised, that it nearly brought tears to my eyes.

My heart just swelled up! (I'm such a girl, I know. ha)

This song is so beautiful and classic, and I used to listen to it all the time in high school.

Lovely.

3) Royksopp-"Poor Leno"

I adore this song. Sure a great "getting ready for the day" tune.

4) 311-"Come Original" (Chopped & Screwed)
I love chopped and screwed music, and this 311 mix of "Come Original" is no exception.
Sidenote: I always giggle a little when he says "Black Eyed Peas are coming full range", it really dates this song.

I was looking at the new fashion trends for Spring 2011, and came across a picture of 70s style icon Bianca Jagger.
She was, of course, at Studio 54.
Got me thinking...I wish I could have been there.
If H.G. Wells would lend me his time machine, that's definately one of the many places I'd hit up.

If you were in New York in the 70s and 80s, you wanted to be at Studio 54.
Studio 54 was a place to see and be seen with the social elite.
Did I forget to mention it was crazy as hell and most of the people went to get high and naked?
Yea. Talk about a party.

Can you imagine kicking it with all those crazy people?

Last night me & Amanze went to the Kevin Hart show in Richmond.
The shenanigans were on full blast.
The opening acts were hilarious and Kevin Hart, naturally, was Kevin Hart.

The funniest part of the night was not the show at all, it was ya girl.
I got a new pair of 5 or 6 inch pumps that I wanted to break in.
Too bad I had to walk like 5 blocks to get to the damn venue...on cobble stone...in the rain!

I bout lost my life last night. Real talk.
Even though the circumstances were jacked up (for me to be wearing shoes like that), I blame the shoes.

I honestly feel like nobody could ever walk in those things.
They just didn't make them right.
I felt like a damn Weeble.
You know...Weebles.

You can basically just imagine my head on one of those little Weebles.
It was awful yal. Never ever again.

I now know how this girl was feeling lol.

Super Moon.

Just as I got breaking news of Japan's major 8.9 earthquake (and the subsequent tsunamis in the Ring of Fire), I was ironically reading articles about this Super Moon phenomena.

According to astrologer Richard Noelle, March 19, the day of the Super Moon, could very well be a day of disaster.

The moon will be at its closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit, and it will also be closer to Earth than it's been in 18 years.

Noelle says the moon's gravitational pull will cause earthquakes, volcanoes, floods and other great disasters.

Many scientists don't believe chaos will ensue, and I don't want to either, but man, the timing of Japan's earthquake isn't helping refute Noelle's theory...AT ALL.

Previous Super Moons have occurred in 1955, 1974, 1992, and 2005.
Notice: Those have been years of extreme weather events.
For example, the Indonesian tsunami of 2004 hit just 2 weeks before the Super Moon of 2005.

Eerie as hell.

I was dilly dallying on the internet and came across this Lex Luger interview.
I'm so intrigued by this dude.

First of all, he's all of 19 years old.
He did Rick Ross's "BMF", Wacka Flocka's "Hard in da Paint", and Yeezy & Jay's "H.A.M."
I also noticed him all over Wiz's new mixtape "Cabin Fever."
His sound seemed really repetitive to me, but he pretty much cleared that up in his Complex interview.

He talks about all these artists reaching out to him and even mentions Chingy. Err?

Kanye released his video for "All of the Lights" yesterday, and let's just say it's awesome.
I was seriously happy while watching it.
I do feel like Ye & Hype Williams wanted all of us to be on mushrooms when they made it, but thats besides the point lol.

Kanye looked like a superstar.
Kid Cudi looked adorable.
And Rihanna looked like naked Rihanna of course.
It was really dope though.

Radiohead fans can rejoice as the band's 8th full-length album is being released this Saturday, February 19th.

I'm excited to hear the music featured on "The King of Limbs" (Radiohead's first release since 2007), but there's even more buzz about the album's overall concept:

"The King of Limbs" is being called the worlds first "newspaper album", and according to Radiohead's website, the analog vinyl will be packaged with a bunch of tangible media goods including "Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together,” for $48.

The basic digital version will be $9, with an upgrade to a premium .WAV file for $14.

When I little tike in East St. Louis, there were a few movies that scared the crap out of me.

There was Killer Klowns (which I now love),

IT,

and Congo.

Yea, I said it, Congo.

That movie, for some reason, freaked me out.
The bad gorillas were just so damn scary.
I know Jai already knows the story I'm about to tell lol.

So one night after I watched the movie, I seriously thought I was going to lose my life.
At one point, me & Jai shared a room.
We both had twin sized beds on opposite sides of the room.
We also had the THICKEST denim conforters ever made.
I was around 7, so lets say I looked like this:

Ok, so I go to bed.
Some time during the night, my crazy self wakes up & thinks I see a bad gorilla in the middle of the room.
It was literally a pile of clothes on a chair, but oh no, I just knew it was a gorilla.
So here I am, peering from under this denim comforter...sweating my BUTT off.
I didn't know what to do.
Because on top of the killer sitting in the middle of my room, I had to pee.

My options were to either pee in the bed, or lose my life.
But the only thing I kept thinking was "If I pee in the bed, I may lose my life anyway." (Courtesy of mom.)
So, I throw the covers back, spring out of the bed, and run for dear life.
I wish I could have seen myself.
Sweaty as hell with fear in my eyes, sprinting to the bathroom.

The next morning, they were looking all over the house for me.

Tell me why they found me sleeping under my bed.

Ahh the memories. lol

Let's just say, JCole knows what the hell he's doing.
Track after track is pure quality and this is no exception.
When I first heard this song on one of JCole's mixtapes, there was no Drizzy.
But once that young man got on the track, it just worked.
I think this song reminds me of the Drake I used to love years ago.

Jai and I saw Drake at his first US concert at Players Ball.
Allow me to reminisce for a moment *makes dream sequence noise as I look in the air.

Egypt, you did it!
I am so happy and proud of your powerful, beautiful people.
The young people who demanded change, demanded freedom and demanded a better life, you accomplished it.

They blocked your communication, they told you weren't ready for democracy, they detained, tortured, tormented and killed you, yet you still remained persistent and peaceful.
That's amazing.

I've been watching the revolution unfold even before it hit Egypt, but I didn't expect to see anything like this.
It all started with one young man.
Mohamed Bouazizi, a 26-year-old Tunisian man, an unemployed college grad, who was desperate for change.
So desperate that he resorted to setting himself on fire as a means of protest.
His act of self-immolation sparked a revolution in Tunisia which eventually toppled their dictatorship.
And so it began.

Countries all over North Africa became inspired by Tunisia's freedom.

Mobilizing through Facebook and Twitter, Egypt's uprising began on January 25, 2011 and now, 18 days later their revolution is won.

Just think:
One man inspired his nation, his nation inspired another, and now that nation is inspiring the entire world.

And they say one person can't make a difference?

If you haven't noticed, the state of R&B music is in peril.

Most "artists" lack substance, are extremely monotonous, or have sold out to this pop-glazed egregiousness that we call "mainstream radio".

I can't stand to listen to 95% of it.

However, Baltimore singer/songwriter, CJ (who now goes by CJ Hilton), is someone I can actually stand to listen to.
He's young, talented and...um, really talented.
The man can sing (and play piano) exceptionally well for someone his age.

The only problem: His 2010 mixtape, "The Package" (hosted by Idris Elba), was overlooked.

I was able to find a few tracks from the mixtape, check them out below. :)

1) CJ Hilton-"3zy's"

This was one of my favorite covers of 2010, period.

The fact that this man sings,"Six titties! Six titties!" in harmony is enough for me.

2) CJ Hilton-"She's A Problem"
His voice is butter, the song feels good and you can tell he grew up on Marvin Gaye.

3) CJ Hilton-"Move On"

A sexy little reggae influenced track.

...and not only does he sound great in the booth, but he's also impressive live.

So, do you think he has a chance in today's musical arena?
